Has anyone heard about it?   It comes in a little bottle, so you can throw it into your gym bag before working out.  I feel like it gave me more energy and stamina for my workout today.I'm not crazy about the taste, but it did work.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday, I took one of my favorite clasess, called, "POW" even though I sometimes can't keep up with the combinations. POW is an intense cardio workout, where you kick and punch a  freestanding heavy bag.  Later today, I will workout with my trainer.  According to the scale yesterday, I've lost 10 pounds.

Now, I want to loose 10 pounds in one month!

I just got a new book called, "The Miami Mediterranean Diet"....lose weight and lower your risk of heart disease with 300 recipes.  Has anyone heard about this diet?

Here's a recipe from the book that looks pretty good.

Angel Hair with Fresh Marinara

16 ounces dried whole grain angel hair pasta

4 TBS. extra virgin olive oil

6 cloves fresh garlic, chopped

1 (28 oz.) can crushed Italian tomatoes

1 (6 oz) can tomato paste

4-5 chopped fresh basil leaves

4 TBS. freshly chopped parsley

1 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes

salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

1/2 cup white wine optional

grated parmesan cheese (optional)

Bring water to boil, add pasta, and cook pasta until al dente.  Remove from heat, drain pasta, and return to pot, drizzling with scant amount of olive oil to keep pasta from sticking together. Set aside.  Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet and saute garlic and onion, but do not brown. Reduce heat to simmer.  Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, basil, parsley, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper, and wine, and simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Serve over pasta sprinkled with cheese.

BACK TO BLOGGING

Hello Everyone,

Sorry, I had to take a break from blogging.  Number one, I'm not very good at keeping a journal on my life to share with the world.  Number two, I loss a very important person in my life...my grandmother...I just needed to pull back from this for awhile.

But, now I'm back.

Today, we had our weigh in, and I've lost 9 lbs.!!!   I hope I can meet my goal to loose at least 20 pounds by April.

I meet with my trainer at 3p.m. today, I can't wait.  Let me know how you guys are doing with your workout regimen...and I love any suggestions you may have on my workouts or eating.

DAY 35

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday, I had a another good workout with my trainer, Jennifer.  She doesn't let me get away with anything!

If I do one more squat on a bose, trying to balance myself, I'm going to scream.  But,I'm not complaining,  I ALWAYS feel so energize after I work out with her.

I received some great fish recipes from our nutritionist Katherine.  I tried this recipe last night for dinner, it was delicious, quick, and easy.

Easy Tilapia with Wine and Tomatoes

4 fillets Tilapia

pepper to taste

4 TBS. transfat free margarine

3 cloves garlic, pressed

4 fresh basil leaves, chopped

1 large tomato, chopped

1 cup white wine

Preheat grill for medium-high het

Place tilapia on a large piece of aluminum foil.  Season with salt and pepper.  Place 1 TBS. butter on top of each piece of fish, and sprinkle garlic, basil and tomato.   Pour the wine over everything. Fold foil up around the fish, and seal into a packet.  Place packet on a cookie sheet for ease in transportation to and from the grill.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another one...haven't tried it yet.

Baked Tilapia in Garlic and Olive Oil

4 oz. fillets tilapia

4 cloves crushed garlic

3 TBS. olive oil

1 onion, chopped

1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

Method:

Rub the fish fillets with crushed garlic, then place in shallow , non-reactive dish.  Spoon olive oil over the fish until coated.  Place the onion on top of fish.  Cover the fish and marinate for overnight to allow the fish to soak.

Preheat oven 350 degrees

Bake fish in 9x13 baking dish along with olive oil, garlic, and onion.  Sprinkle fish with cayenne pepper.

DAY 32

Hi Everyone,

Friday, we had our annual wedding show.  Here I am with Ann Marie (left), who does an outstanding job spearheading the wedding shows year after year, and Joanie (far right), another producer on our staff at the wedding reception we held for our very special couple, Kacy and Jordan.  Each year, I have responsibility of coordinating the wedding reception.  This year's couple was so inspiring.  They truly epitomize courage, hope, and endurance.  It made some of us here at "Live" be thankful for what we have.

DAY 30

Hi Everyone,

Today, I met with our nutritionist.     She is encouraging all of us to adopt  healthy eating into our everyday life, beyond this challenge.  Three meals a day, but smaller portions.   I am now exercising four days a week, but I think I need to pump it up, in order to reach my goal.

I had a physical today, so I skipped breakfast.  My blood pressure today was 120/80, which is pretty good.  I'll get the results of my cholesterol in a couple of weeks. I need to invest in a blood pressure machine to monitor my pressure.  I'm open to suggestions on the type of home blood pressure machines.

DAY 23

Hi Everyone,

Today I had a good workout with my trainer Jennifer.  She's so focus.  I really like her.  Anyway,  last night I planned to have grilled shrimp with green peas (Kashi frozen food), but instead I had dinner with my mom, and we had chinese food.  We shared an order of General Tso chicken and I had my saki again.

But today, I worked it off.  I feel that I am more realistic with my lifestyle while doing this weight loss challenge the second time around.  If I go off the healthy path a little, I know WHAT I NEED TO DO THE NEXT DAY....WORK IF OFF.

With Jennifer, I did squats, bicycle strecthes, chest presses, balancing on the dome ball, and some push-ups.  I do 20 for each.  After exercising, I try to spend 15 minutes in the steam room....and if I have the energy I may sneak in some crunches.

The last time I was on the scale, I lost about 4 to 5 pounds.  I'm hoping it's more by now.

Today's menu:

Bkfst:  4 slicles cantaloupe

small cup of manhattan clam chowder  (featured on our show today for healthy and hearty

                                                                    superbowl recipe)

Lunch: grilled salmon w/ mixed greens, edamame, cherry tomatoes, carrots, and red beans with

fat-free raspberry dressing and a little balsamic vinegar

Snack:  Starbuck's Chai Tea with skim milk

Tonight, for dinner I plan to eat Kashi's shrimp and vegetables...if it doesn't happen our let you know.

Today, I had Susan Lucci as a guest and her secret to being fit is doing pilates...in fact she's been doing pilates for 12 years before it became a new thing to do.  Last week, Diane Lane was on the show and her exercise regimen is YOGA....She loves yoga and hates cardio.

So,  there you have two celebrity tips for keeping fit from two  beautiful  women, who are older, but ARE STILL LOOKING GOOD AND BETTER THAN EVER!

DAY 11

Hey Guys,

I just got back from my first work-out with my personal trainer, Jennifer Jones.  I love her name.  It just has a nice ring to it.  Anyway, she's great and feel more confident that I am on my way again to lose even more weight than I didl the first time around.  We did three circuits...8 minutes on the treadmill... 15 squats standing against the wall on the big balance ball, 20 chest pulls, 20 crushes on the big ball, 20 leg stretches, and then start all over again.  It was a productive work-out.  I realized whenever the back of my neck is sweating I know I'm burning calories.

Bkfst:  3 slices cantaloupe

           boiled egg

Lunch:   mixed green salad w/ chick peas, grape tomatoes, edamame, and fat free raspberry dressing on the side.

apple

1 oatmeal raisin cookie

Tonight, I take my son to a Boy Scout meeting where they usually order Dominos pizza....Not for me...I have my orange in hand...but I think I better pick up a low-fat yogurt before going there.   Dinner becomes shaky at times, depending on what time I arrive at home....I may or may not have a 3 course dinner.

If I get home any later than 8 p..m., I am not cooking dinner.  Katherine gave me some ideas for frozen dinners, which I'll shop for this weekend.

Got to run.  Take care and Keep on Keeping on!

Sorry I'm a little late getting a blog out to you.  This weekend was challenging.  My husband and I had neighbors over for the Giant vs. Dallas game.  I had one slice of veggie pizza, and two glasses of red wine.  Meaghan, our fitness trainer gave some advice on treadmill workouts.    Please take time to read her comments below.  I went walking on Saturday for 45 minutes.  I need to pump up my walking exercises on the weekends.

Day 5

Work_032_2

Hi Everyone,

Today I was on the show with our Physical Trainer, who talked about working on a treadmill in intervals.  I usually spend 60 minutes on a treadmill at the same speed  4.5/ incline 2.5.  On the show, Meaghan, our fitness consultant said I should start out at a comfortable pace, then bring up the speed for 15 mins., then bring it down a bit for another 15 mins., then up again perhaps even at a higher speed each time.    This will help burn calories faster without running. Also, our Nutritionist, Katherine Brooking has given some information below regarding high blood pressure... what it is and what is considered normal.  I hope you find it helpful.  In regard to resisting foods we should not eat like candy or pizza.  I'm told not to deprive myself , and you should eat certain foods in moderation.  A small bite of dark chocolate is okay...and one slice of veggie pizza with a little bit of cheese may not hurt.  For me, when I finally make a decision to loose my weight, I desperately stay away from anything that will trigger more....like potato chips...I just can't have one or two...once the taste is there, it over.  If you are like me,

don't indulge...simple as that...drink water instead.  I wish I had a better answer but I don't .  You guys are such an encouragement me.  I appreciate you taking the time blog me.  This blogging is ALL NEW TO ME.  Be Well and You Too Can Do It!

Next week I will share with you my menu plan and what I eat each day.

Day 4

Hi Everyone,

Today was a good work-out day.  I took another kick-boxing class for 1 hour, and a abs class for 15 minutes.  I feel good, but hungry.  I'm still awaiting my menu plan.  It's so interesting to see so many people have similar weigh issues.  As promised, some of the tapes I find beneficial are Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds for Abs, and diffent versions of Turbo Jam by Beachbody.  They are two very different workouts.  Walk away the Pounds is a low-impact workout.   It's good for folks who are just starting out.  Turbo Jam is just the opposite....high energy workout for those who like a variation of exercises that keep you moving at a high pace.  In regard to questions concering high blood pressure, I am not an expert on that, you need to talk with your doctor concerning that.  I feel I'm getting back into swing of working out.  Let's continue to go through this TOGETHER!!!!  You too can do it.  Thanks again for all the support.

Day 3

Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for your encouraging words...it's comforting to know their are people out there that can relate to my personal weight issue. As soon as I receive my meal plan, I will share it with you.  I'll also share some of the workout tapes that I have used and will do again for this weightloss journey.
Stay motivated and go for it...you can do it too!!!!

Day 2

Today, we had our first work-out session....a kickboxing class.  It was REALLY a hard class, but I must say, "I feel good".  It reminded me how important exercise is in one's life.  I must keep that at the forefront of my mind.  I don't particularly like exercising...it's just not an easy thing for me to do....caring for others is.  Now, I need to care for myself.
