Gosh! Where do I begin.....New York City offers the very BEST of almost EVERYTHING! What can't you find here? And whatever you find you can ALWAYS step it up a notch or two! In terms of multi-culturalism...it is truly at it's very best here...if it has a spot on the globe there is a restaurant somewhere in New York city with a sample of their exotic cuisine. and that's what I truly love about this city....diversity, diversity, diversity!
Okay...just to name a few....

Nice spots to check out:
The Reservoir In Central Park!
Located between 86th & 92nd street.
The Reservoir is absolutely beautiful! It covers 106 acres and holds over a billion gallons of water.
It is surrounded by a jogging path and it is a popular spot in central park for exercise, bird watching and great Manhattan skyline views.
It is also a great spot for picture taking & romantic walks.

Favorite morning ritual: The Coffee Guy on Columbus (that just what I call him) located outside our studio on Columbus Ave (closer to 66th street). They are the only cart with a line that extends down the block depending on the time and it’s worth the wait. It goes pretty quickly since he remembers how everyone takes their coffee. It’s remarkable! This little stainless steel vending cart brews some of the best coffee in the city…and a large is only $1.25
Favorite “secret” Dining Spot: The 79th Street Boat Basin: It’s hard to find since you have to walk under the West Side Highway to get there (or through Riverside Park)…but once you’re there it’s worth the trip. It’s such a cool little spot you feel like you’ve stumbled upon the best kept secret in the city. Amazing water views, great hamburgers, salads, and drinks. I don’t think they take reservations, but you can order a drink and hang out by the water while you wait for a table. www.boatbasincafe.com
Favorite Summer Activity: The Adirondack Schooner: This awesome sailboat leaves from Chelsea Piers during the summer. It is inexpensive and they serve beverages during the 2 hour trips. It’s great when you have nothing to do on a hot day or if you want to have a mellow night on the water. The rates are $40 and $50 for 2 hours (and it includes drinks) depending on the time of day. (Don’t forget to tip the crew)

The Bronx:
Dominick’s Restaurant (on Arthur Avenue)
Arthur Avenue is the “Little Italy” of the Bronx (A BRONX TALE was filmed there), and Dominick’s is a really true, New York Italian restaurant. Upon entering, Charlie the bartender gives you a number. You wait and get seated when there’s a slot at one of the long beer hall-like tables. There’s no menu, no price list, but you need to know how to order. You’ll know if they think you’re a regular when you get your “BILL.” The waiter will come over and whisper a number into the ear of a male at the table. And it’s cash only, of course.
Manhattan:
Food:
Russ and Daughters (appetizing) www.russanddaughters.com
Houston and Allen Streets (2 blocks down from Katz’s Deli)
A family business since 1914, it’s got the greatest old world atmosphere (with 21st century prices) and the best lox, whitefish salad, etc. in NYC. It’s on the Lower Eastside, and owner (Mark Russ Federman is a real character, too). I’ll shoot this one!!!
Doughnut Plant www.doughnutplant.com
Funky organic doughnut place on Grand Street on the Lower East Side. The owner took his late grandfather’s doughnut recipe, and he’s created standards like, glazed, chocolate and vanilla doughnuts…and unique ones like blackout, lavender, tres leches and the world’s greatest cinnamon buns!
Li-lac Chocolates http://li-lacchocolates.com/
40 Jane Street (Jane/8th)
NYC- made chocolate shop; there are a couple of locations. Its original location was on Christopher Street for more than 80 years, and it recently relocated to Jane Street. It’s great to support local NYC businesses…and it’s way better than Godiva.
The Odeon Restaurant www.theodeonrestaurant.com
145 W. Broadway
The ultimate “wear black” late night downtown eatery. It’s chic and cool…but it’s not hard to get a table. Business was hurting after 9-11, but things are getting better. It’s great for tourists who want to feel very “New York)
CENTRAL PARK www.centralparknyc.org
When I worked with Nancy Kennedy and Diane Oates, we produced a year’s worth of specials on Central Park. There are so many cool things there that people don’t know about. There are location markers all over the place…and there’s a sundial that actually tells the time. But there are concerts, plays, dancing under the stars…the Central Park film festival, etc… Here are some of my favorites (but you can see a list on the website):
* BELVEDERE CASTLE (created to add to the grandeur of the landscape. It’s used for bird watching, and there’s a weather center, too.)
* SHAKESPEARE GARDEN (beautiful garden on the Westside; flowers taken from same that are grown in Stratford; benches are the same as from Shakespeare’s hometown, too).
* SWEDISH MARIONETTE THEATRE (puppet shows for children in the middle of the park—a 60-year tradition)
* BETHESDA TERRACE/FOUNTAIN (lots of films shot there—Nancy may have b-roll of “Enchanted” shoot)
